DacEasy from Sage Software offers an affordable point-of-sale system designed for small to midsize retailers. The product can be used standalone or integrated with the accounting module that is available for an additional cost.
EASE OF USE
The main screen of DacEasy utilizes the Business Center,
which contains a drop-down menu bar at the top and a modules
menu bar directly to the right. The toolbar directly below
that contains access to frequently used product functions.
Upon logging into the system, users can utilize the sample
company profile to familiarize themselves with the system or
to set up their own company profile, which will need to be
done prior to using the register.
To log into the sales register, users simply click on the point-of-sale function and enter a register number. Lookup options allow users to search for valid criteria for each necessary field. The login screen records the time that the user signs in. The Sales Register Entry screen contains a default receipt number, which is assigned by the system. Again, a lookup option allows users to search for customers and items. A series of options to the right of the screen allows users to look up system information, add a customer, process a layaway, or access various options such as a system calculator. It’s easy to navigate through the DacEasy register, and new users should require limited training in order to utilize the application.
MODULES/SCALABILITY
In addition to the DacEasy Point of Sale module, the vendor
offers Accounting, Payroll and Order Entry. DacEasy can be
used as a fully functional standalone product or can be
utilized with the accounting module (which contains GL, AP,
AR, Purchase Order, and complete Inventory functionality) to
provide retailers with excellent front/back office
functionality. All modules are available separately, so they
can be purchased on an as-needed basis.
FEATURES/FUNCTIONALITY
Version 15 contains several new features and enhancements,
including an improved Graphic Form Editor that allows you to
view custom forms on-screen prior to printing. Columns can
now be added or removed using the Customized Lookups tool.
And now, users can also remove unnecessary data from any
field by using the Remove Unused AutoComplete Data tool. All
customer information can be entered from one screen,
including Sales, Payments on Account (AR), Layaways and
Quotes. To speed sales entry, new customers and products can
be added on-the-fly. The Sales Register is also fully
customizable so users can utilize the fields needed and
ignore the others. Numerous user options are also available
from the sales register entry screen, including the ability
to split tender and the option to issue customer refunds.
Customer, product or service inquiries are easily performed.
Discounts can be added at checkout, and tax rates can be
adjusted to reflect local and regional tax rates.
INTEGRATION
The File Import option allows for the import of customer or
product files from third-party applications. The Export
Sales Transactions tool can move sales receipts, refunds and
payment information to another application. Information in
any of the module lookup screens can also be exported to an
ASCII file. DacEasy works with a variety of hardware
peripherals including cash drawers, keyboard wedges, barcode
readers, printers and magnetic card readers. DacEasy also
works with various partners to provide credit card
processing, direct deposit service for payroll users, and
online verification services.
TRACKING/REPORTING
Version 15 of DacEasy contains numerous reporting
enhancements, including the ability to save current report
parameters. Reports are easily run, with the ability to
choose the desired criteria. Along with standard register
reports such as the Receipts Report, Sales Report and
Reconciliation Report, users can also print a Sales Analysis
Report, a Layaway Directory Report, and Master Item Activity
Report. Audit Tape Reports and Audit Trail Logs can also be
run. Using the optional Crystal Reports module increases
reporting capabilities, as well. All reports can be viewed
on-screen, saved to a file, saved as a PDF document,
exported to Excel, or published in HTML. Reports can also be
mailed to customers directly as PDFs.
